Jeans and a t-shirt but make it a little more fancy!

I styled my upcycled Rivington t-shirt with my wide legend trouser jeans (I’ve been wearing these with everything lately!) and pearls, a textured belt and a pop of color with the bag. I’ve already been wearing this outfit several times since I made it, it’s an easy one to throw on and feel put together.

I made this #SATCRivington t-shirt a few years back and I love it but...decided to chop off the sleeves and add puffed sleeves...and now I really love it 😍

This square dresser scarf was just waiting to be some puffed sleeves! I took the regular sleeve pattern that comes with the pattern and did a puffed sleeve pattern hack (video on my Youtube). I thought I’d add elastic at the cuff but decided I like the movement of the sleeves without, plus you can see the beautiful old embroidery and lacework this way!

Leaning in to my bohemian side with my new tablecloth-turned-fall-top! 🪶

I found this pair of wide legged trouser jeans and love love love them. They are so comfortable! When I first styled them with the top, it felt like a lot of fabric, but I soon got used to the style and know I’ll be wearing them with a lot of my blouses all through Fall.

The top is my Vandam top and dress pattern, cut from a vintage tablecloth. Instead of a center back zipper, I left it open so I could utilize the lace and embroidered corners of the tablecloth. Then, I added leather (suede) ties at center back. Yes, it’s a little bit hippy dippy but why not have a bit of 70’s style sometimes? ✌🏼

While we’re on the boho topic, I paired my upcycled denim earrings with this one. I have a Youtube about how I made these. Seriously, one of my favorite pairs of earrings...

I also wore this top this weekend with navy blue shorts...I’ll post a pic in my stories!

I’ve worn this blouse everyday since I made it lol

This cross-stitched tablecloth has been hanging out in my stash for awhile, I’d planned to make a jacket from it, but since jacket weather is still a month (or maybe two 🥵) away, I sewed it into a Fall blouse which filled an immediate hole in my closet. I love the colors of the embroidery and the lace trim being a bit unexpected and feminine.

The pattern I used is my Vandam top & dress pattern but instead of a zipper closure, I left the center back open and added 2 sets of brown suede ties as closure...I think it adds a bit of “boho” to the style and allowed me to use the corner designs and lace of the tablecloth.

When it comes to upcycling, I’ve learned that the cutting is really the most important work. I went back and forth with the placements a lot...at some point you just have to decide and cut! But if I’m honest, it’s hard to make the first cut into a beautifully embroidered (albeit stained in some places) tablecloth 💜

Sometimes the internet makes me forget that sewing is SO much more than sewing. Hours spent dreaming up what I want to make, looking for (or making) patterns, printing the pattern, cutting the pattern, choosing the fabric, cutting the fabric, marking, threading the machine (and serger!), sewing, pressing...so many little details go into sewing our clothes!
